Hi, my name is Robin Kline. I have been a Registered Dental Hygienist since graduating from Middlesex County College, Edison N. J. in 1994 and a dental professional since 1989. I am also a Certified Massage Therapist graduating from The American Institute of Alternative Medicine, Old Bridge, N. J. in 2001.
I am a single parent raising two teenage daughters.
I have recently developed a new product for interproximal cleaning. The website is www.flosstechproducts.com.
I am employed in the general practice of my younger brother Dr. Bob Montgomery. He is my mentor and the person responsible for my love of dentistry.
In October of 2002, I attended the ADA convention in New Orleans LA, my first trip there. Our visit to Bourbon Street was an experience I'll never forget. The atmosphere was very exciting and the meeting was very informative. I've always been the type to look for a better way to do things. Since flossing is such an issue for so many patients, I searched the meeting for as many different adjuncts to try as I possibly could. For three days I gathered samples. I really liked the ultra-fine proxy brushes, but found only three companies(all foreign) who had the very thin styles. And of these, 2 were cumbersome to use...changing brush tips and fiddling with handles.None of these were single-use-disposable. None of these were available at the local pharmacies either.
When we got back to the office I tried these small brushes with my patients and they loved them! They wanted to order them through the office since they couldn't be found at the local stores so my doctor began ordering them. The best thing for me was that these previously non flossing patients were now cleaning in between with the small proxybrush and their tissues looked marvelous! No BOP, no deep pockets or moderate calculus. They told me how good their mouths felt and I could see a dramatic improvement in their dental health and attitude.
After about 6-8 months of supplying these small foreign proxy's to our patients we received a letter from the company saying that they would be unable to continue supplying us with the proxy's (I think they were doing some corporate internal reorganizing and changing distributors) but would let us know if this changes in the future.
The patients were not happy. I decided to do something!
I could design a multi-packed, disposable, ultra thin proxy. I wanted all patients to benefit, not just the ones in our office. After several weeks of research I decided to use a product development company to help me with my idea.
Its taken more than 2 years and a lot of hard work, but so far all the feedback has been positive. My patients are happy and healthy and can now get their thin proxy's and are even getting the hang of ordering online. Please visit my website and post your comments. If you would like a sample, please let me know.
