Heidi Emmerling, RDH, PhD is an educator, author, speaker, and clinician. Currently a faculty member of the University of California Santa Barbara Writing Program, she teaches all levels of composition with her primary course being Writing for Health Professionals designed for upper division health care majors. A dental hygienist for nineteen years, Dr. Emmerling's interest is in empowering current and future health professionals through the writing process. Her articles have appeared in RDH, Journal of Dental Hygiene, Access, Composition Studies, Nevada Rhetoric Review, Nevada Woman, and Penthouse. She continues to write a monthly column for the Reno Gazette-Journal.

Owner of Writing Solutions, Dr. Emmerling is available for freelance writing or editing projects (for individuals or groups) as well as conducting group workshops on communication and professional development.
